I started playing the piano when I was 6. My father always wanted to play piano himself, but his family couldn’t afford to buy one for him. So, when I was six years old he asked if I wish to have a piano and bought me an upright piano. I started learning to play as a student in a special school for musically talented children in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. I studied there all musically related subjects: music theory, music history, dictation and aural training, etc.
我6岁时开始弹钢琴。我父亲他一直有个弹钢琴的梦想,但他的家人买不起。所以在我六岁时,父亲问我是否想要并给我买了一架立式钢琴。在保加利亚普罗夫迪夫,我在一所专门为有音乐天赋的孩子开设的学校接受教育,从那时起我开始学习钢琴演奏。同时也是在那里,我接受了音乐相关的课程:诸如音乐理论、音乐史、视唱练耳等等。
What motivated me to take this seriously and become a professional pianist was that since a very young age I was winning many competitions, and that encouraged me to think that I must be good at playing the piano. When I was 14 I realized that the piano will be my life and I will dedicate my career to performing, touring and teaching piano.
促使我认真思考是否应该成为职业钢琴演奏家这一问题的诱因是:我从小就赢得了很多比赛,这些奖项令我感觉也许钢琴是我的强项。当我14岁的时候,我意识到钢琴将是我的生命,我将把我的职业生涯奉献给钢琴演奏,巡演和教学。

The pieces I have chosen to play are all very dear to my heart. They are works which exemplify my musical journey and which have been with me for a long time (except the Feinberg Sonata which I learnt in the past year.) I am not Russian, but Bulgarian sensibility is close to the Russian sensibility. After all, we are both slavic people.
我选择演奏的那些曲子对我来说意义非凡。这些作品象征着我的音乐学习道路的范例,也是我很久未忘的作品(除了去年才学习的费恩伯格奏鸣曲)。我不是俄罗斯人,但保加利亚人的情感与俄罗斯人的感情很接近。毕竟,我们都是斯拉夫民族。
The works show all the different sides of Russian classical music: Scriabin is very influenced by Chopin and so the Sonata-Fantasia sounds very romantic; Rachmaninov also is a romantic composer, but in a different way- his music in the Variations on a theme by Corelli is austere, sparse and often pessimistic.

Feinberg is a discovery for me and I have it as my mission to show his music to the world as much a possible. He was a very famous soviet pianist and pedagogue: with many famous students, but his compositions are now forgotten for many different reasons.
对我来说,费恩伯格是一个全新的尝试,而我的使命就是尽我所能地将他的音乐展示给全世界。费恩伯格是一位非常著名的苏联钢琴家和教育家:有许多著名的学生,但他的作品由于诸多原因现在被人们所遗忘。
I feel very happy that I am able to present his music in my tour of China. Right now I am working on a project to record Feinberg’s complete piano sonatas in two CDs for Naxos. They are all very very challenging musically and very difficult technically, but the music is good and is worth it! I believe this might be a premiere performance of his works in China.
如今我能够在这次中国巡演中表演他的音乐,我感到非常高兴。目前我正在为拿索斯录制两部完整的费恩伯格钢琴奏鸣曲。这两部作品在技术上都非常具有挑战性。但他的音乐无可挑剔!我相信这可能是他的作品首次在中国上演。
The last piece on the program is by Sergey Prokofiev- his Sonata no.6. The first “War Sonata”. I love this piece dearly, not only because of the sheer power and brilliance it has in the 1st and 4th movements, but also because of the beautiful balletic second movement which reminds us of Prokofiev’s ballets and of the luxurious and romantic third movement- a slow waltz!
音乐会的最后一首曲子是普罗科菲耶夫《第六号钢琴奏鸣曲》。它是普罗科菲耶夫三部"战争奏鸣曲"(六、七、八奏鸣曲)中的第一部。这首曲子深得我心,不仅因为它在第一和第四乐章中表现出的力量和辉煌,而且还因为其优雅似芭蕾舞般的第二乐章,让我们不禁联想起普罗科菲耶夫的芭蕾舞剧和极尽奢华浪漫的第三乐章——慢华尔兹!

Some of my favorite pianists right now are Daniel Barenboim and M. Perahia. Some of the Chinese pianists I admire are Yundi Li, Lang Lang and Yuja Wang. I think China can be very proud of all three of them!
我现在最喜欢的钢琴家有丹尼尔·巴伦波伊姆和佩莱西亚先生。我欣赏的中国钢琴家有李云迪、郎朗和王羽佳。我认为这三者是中国的骄傲!

I am happy to know that many are learning the piano in China! I have worked with Chinese students at the Beijing Central Conservatory and was really impressed by the high level! I wish everyone who is studying piano a lot of passion and patience! Learning to play well both musically and technically requires a lot of time. One needs to be patient and care about music deeply in order to continue this arduous process of constant development and betterment.
令我欣慰的是,许多人在中国学习钢琴!我曾在北京的中央音乐学院和中国学生一起合作过,他的高水平给我留下了深刻的印象。我祝愿每一个正在学习钢琴的人都能够永葆激情和耐心!在音乐性和技术上都追求卓越需要耐心。钢琴学习者需要更加耐心和深刻地关注音乐本身,才能在音乐演奏中得到不断发展和改进,这是一个艰巨的历程
